Walk for mental health research
“The Rotary Club of Byford & Districts Inc, along with the Byford & Districts Community Branch of Bendigo Bank & PHAM Group are hosting their second annual LIFT THE LID WALK in 2024!”
These walks are a great way to spread awareness of the 1 in 5 Australians who are suffering
from a mental illness. Help us Lift the Lid on Mental Illness this spring by walking with us!

All proceeds go into mental health research through Australian Rotary Health.
What:
A walk starting from the Byford Secondary College oval, parking on Mead St,
Abernethy Road & rear school car parks.
When:
​Attendees arrive at 9am to sign in and collect your hats, walk starts at 9:30am,
most walkers back by 10:30am,free sausage sizzle starts at 10:30am, event finished by midday.
Pet Friendly (on leash) but please pick up after your dog, bags will be provided at the start line.
Who:
Anyone who has been impacted by or cares about Mental Health – dogs on a lead are welcome.
Entry fee:
$30 for adults which includes an event hat. Kids 15 and under walk for free.
You can purchase hats for kids via the ticket site. Early bird adult ticket sales
before Sept 29th will receive a hat.
Registration:
Registration online, with hats available for collection on the day of the walk
Toilets will be available at the Start/Finish in the school grounds, along with First Aid.
A water station and toilets will be available at the IGA plaza half way point of the 4.2km walk route.
There will be a free sausage sizzle at the finish line.

​The Route:
​4.2 km walk, with optional 2km walk for small children/wheelchairs.
Start and finish at the same place.
It’s a walk not a run.
4.2km Following footpath along Abernethy Road to Doley Road, down to nature scape, through to
Woolandra, crossing back along Olsen, through the IGA plaza with a drink station and toilets, down to
Mead St and following all the way back to the rear school car park, and back onto the oval for
the finish line. There are some road crossings which will be manned by volunteers to assist,
however, we ask all participants to use road sense when crossing safely.

2km walk will take the same route out onto Abernethy, but turn left at Warrington,
down to Mead St and back to the same rear school car park and onto the oval for the finish line.
No road crossings required, all footpath.
